Water Projects

Roka Timboni Water Project

A water project propagated by  Mama Kadzo Pole  saw its inception in the month of October. The area in which the project was carried out is in Kilifi. The area has long suffered from drought related problems and had to buy water for consumption at ksh. 40 for a twenty litre jerican. As the wise say, necessity is the mother of invention. The residents of Timboni could not afford the water  at the ksh. 40 and so consulted with Akiba Mashinani Trust and requested for a loan of100,000 to purchase a tank of 10,000 litres. They then buy water from the water company and sell it to the residents at a rate of Ksh. 25 per 20 litre jerican. This has been a relief to the residents of Timboni. They buy the water for Ksh. 9,000. The group makes a profit of between Ksh 10,000-12,000 every month. The project was a success and the residents can enjoy fresh water at a low rate.
